The subject matter of my project is advocating people to stop putting litter/plastic in the oceans. It shows the information on beach signs that I made to look like real signs posted on the beach. I want the viewer to get captivated in these posters and not think of them as pictures on the wall, but important signs at Presque Isle that you are seeing as you’ve got your feet in the sand. My goal was to try and make these posters as realistic as possible to actually standing in the place as me, the photographer. It is a pastiche of signs and beach signs. I used the general colors, design, and shape for my signs and added my own message, font, and illustrations on it. I expressed beach signs as my concept by using Illustrator, Photoshop, and personal photography to create my four posters. I used scale in both of my designs by making the posters bigger and the sings a little bit bigger than the actual signs I photographed in the picture. I also used position in my posters by properly positioning my signs where they looked best on the picture. I also positioned the website text at the bottom with the bar of color. The websites are for more information that you can go to for finding facts on plastic in the ocean and the cites of where I got my information for each sign from. I made the illustrations of the signs and objects on the signs in Illustrator. I went to Presque Isle and took the four pictures I used as the posters. In the plastic straws poster, I have a cameo of my dad in the background which is very important to me. He is the man who taught me not to litter, always pick up trash no matter where we go, and to preserve nature. He was one of my biggest inspirations for this project.
