I cut my squares out of a fashion magazine. I chose 12 photos that related to the female body which included legs, feet, arms, heads, hands and more. I made all the photos in black and white. I chose the lyrics from the song “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys. I used repetition of rectangles and splitting my images into different rectangles throughout my piece. I tried to relate my text and images with each other literally and figuratively. Such as the spread “longer like a highway and using a photo of legs because legs are long. I used Hammer Mill paper for the front of my book and a red/orange metallic paper for the back. I picked the paper for the back of the book to reflect my theme of fire and being bold and empowering. It also is a nice contrast against the black and white of the front.
